As far as a bit of history about my Met, I purchased it from
Red Bird Motor Company in Augusta Georgia in 1968. They had it setting under a
big old oak tree on their sales lot at the time and I gave them $275 for it. Of
course
back in them days, a Met was considered a "throw-away-car" and so
they were
glad to get rid of it. I was stationed at Fort Gordon and was waiting for
helicopter flight school and needed transportation to and from the Post. I
wanted something that would get good gas mileage. I remember filling it up
costing something like $3.60 if it was empty. My, have times changed. It was
partially restored in 1973 after I returned home from VietNam and was stationed
here at Fort Lewis. I rebuilt the engine in 1985 and haven't
done much to it since.
